The API returns this data in a JSON format, specifically as a list of JSON objects, where each object represents a country and contains key-value pairs for each data point. Each country's data is meticulously structured, ensuring consistency and ease of parsing. The API employs a simple and intuitive RESTful architecture with a single endpoint to access this data. Developers can use standard HTTP GET requests to retrieve the entire dataset. Error handling is implemented to provide informative messages for invalid requests. The data schema is consistent and well-documented, enabling effortless integration into diverse applications. The API is designed for efficient data retrieval and is optimized to handle a high volume of requests. The primary endpoint allows developers to programmatically access and utilize this geographically focused information in a convenient and easily integrable way.

World Countries Info API FAQs

The API provides a comprehensive dataset of countries ranked by their total area, including details such as rank, name, total area in square kilometers and square miles, land area, water area, and the percentage of the world's landmass each country occupies.

The API returns data in a structured JSON format, specifically as a list of JSON objects, where each object represents a country with key-value pairs for each data point.

Developers can use this API to create applications that require geographical information, such as educational tools, travel apps, data visualization projects, or any application that needs to display or analyze country sizes and rankings.

The API's output includes fields such as rank, country name, total area (in square kilometers and square miles), land area, water area, and the percentage of the world's landmass occupied by each country.

Developers can easily integrate the API by making standard HTTP GET requests to the primary endpoint to retrieve the entire dataset, allowing for seamless incorporation of geographical data into various applications.

Each endpoint returns specific data about countries. The "get countries with data available" endpoint lists all countries. The "get total area by country" endpoint provides the total area in km² for a specified country. The "get land area and world share by country" endpoint returns land area and the percentage of the world's landmass for a country. The "get size ranking by country" endpoint gives the ranking of a country based on its area.

The key fields vary by endpoint. For "get countries with data available," it returns a list of country names. The "get total area by country" endpoint includes "country" and "total_area_sq_km." The "get land area and world share by country" endpoint provides "country," "land_area," and "world_landmass_percentage." The "get size ranking by country" endpoint returns "country" and "rank."

The response data is organized in JSON format. Each endpoint returns either a list of countries or an array of objects containing specific data points for each country. For example, the total area endpoint returns an array with objects that include the country name and its total area, ensuring a consistent structure for easy parsing.

Each endpoint requires a specific parameter. For the "get total area by country," "get land area and world share by country," and "get size ranking by country" endpoints, users must specify the country name as a parameter. This allows users to retrieve targeted information for a specific country from the dataset.

Users can utilize the returned data by parsing the JSON response to extract relevant information. For instance, developers can display a country's total area or ranking in their applications. The structured format allows for easy integration into data visualization tools, educational platforms, or geographic analysis applications.

Typical use cases include educational applications that teach geography, travel apps that provide country statistics, and data analysis tools that visualize land area comparisons. Researchers may also use the data for studies on land distribution and environmental impact assessments.

The API sources its data from reputable datasets, ensuring high accuracy. Regular updates and quality checks are implemented to verify the consistency and reliability of the information provided, allowing users to trust the data for their applications.

Each endpoint provides distinct information: the "get countries with data available" endpoint lists all countries; the "get total area by country" endpoint gives total area in km²; the "get land area and world share by country" endpoint offers land area and world percentage; and the "get size ranking by country" endpoint provides the ranking based on area.

Prices are determined by a recurring monthly or yearly subscription, depending on the chosen plan.
API calls are deducted from your plan based on successful requests. Each plan comes with a specific number of calls that you can make per month. Only successful calls, indicated by a Status 200 response, will be counted against your total. This ensures that failed or incomplete requests do not impact your monthly quota.
Zyla API Hub works on a recurring monthly subscription system. Your billing cycle will start the day you purchase one of the paid plans, and it will renew the same day of the next month. So be aware to cancel your subscription beforehand if you want to avoid future charges.
To upgrade your current subscription plan, simply go to the pricing page of the API and select the plan you want to upgrade to. The upgrade will be instant, allowing you to immediately enjoy the features of the new plan. Please note that any remaining calls from your previous plan will not be carried over to the new plan, so be aware of this when upgrading. You will be charged the full amount of the new plan.
To check how many API calls you have left for the current month, refer to the 'X-Zyla-API-Calls-Monthly-Remaining' field in the response header. For example, if your plan allows 1,000 requests per month and you've used 100, this field in the response header will indicate 900 remaining calls.

You can monitor your API usage through the response headers included with every request:

x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-used: Shows the total number of API requests you have used during the current billing period.
x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-remaining: Shows the number of API requests you have remaining for the current billing period.

The 'X-Zyla-RateLimit-Reset' header shows the number of seconds until your rate limit resets. This tells you when your request count will start fresh. For example, if it displays 3,600, it means 3,600 seconds are left until the limit resets.
